Do Chiefs now have inside track for Cowher in 2010?

NFL Insider: Do Chiefs now have inside track for Cowher in 2010?
by Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer Reporter

Gene J. Puskar/Associated Press
If the Kansas City Chiefs and new GM Scott Pioli decide to go into the 2009 season with head coach Herm Edwards, it may be a move designed to keep Bill Cowher as an option for 2010.CLEVELAND --- At one point in his search to reorganize the Browns' football operations, owner Randy Lerner fantasized of a front office pairing of Bill Cowher and Scott Pioli.
Now there is speculation that the dream team could be made after all -- in Kansas City.

The instigator was Boomer Esiason, who sits beside Cowher on the set of CBS' "The NFL Today" pre-game show.

NFL.com's Adam Schefter reported Esiason said on his New York City radio show last week that he wouldn't be surprised if Pioli held off until 2010 to make a coaching change in his new job with the Chiefs. Then he would replace incumbent Herm Edwards with Cowher.

Thus begins the first official link of Cowher with a team in 2010.

Cowher was the Chiefs' defensive coordinator from 1989 to '91 and knows Kansas City is a passionate football city -- one of the requirements to lure him out of retirement. Esiason also said Pioli and Cowher are close friends.

It is believed Pioli is holding off on firing Edwards because his top choices were Kirk Ferentz, who is staying at Iowa, and Josh McDaniels, who was hired as Denver coach before Pioli took the Chiefs' job.

Charlie Riedel/Associated Press
A 2-14 record might seal the fate of most NFL head coaches, but the situation could be a little unusual in Kansas City for Herm Edwards.Supposedly, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt favors retaining Edwards, who has a year to go on his contract. Pioli probably figures the Chiefs won't be winners next year no matter who coaches them, so he just might keep Edwards.
There could be legs to this scenario if Edwards hangs on. What other justification can there be to keeping a coach who is 6-26 over his last two seasons and 19-45 over his last four, counting a final season with the Jets?

If all the speculation plays out and Cowher joins Pioli in Kansas City next year, it would be quite a blow to Browns fans who dreamed of landing a superstar, or two, in this latest Browns reboot.

More Pioli: Lerner has not publicly stated why he and Pioli could not reach an agreement.

Charlie Riedel/Associated Press
Chiefs owner Clark Hunt (right) said he was overwhelmed by the qualifications of new GM Scott Pioli (left). Did Pioli and Browns owner Randy Lerner have a difficult interview? Sources around the league say that wasn't the case.A Boston Herald report that Pioli made "outrageous demands" was debunked by a source close to Lerner. The theory that Pioli would not agree to Lerner's insistence to name Eric Mangini as coach has not been shot down.
There's also a theory that Pioli gave a negative assessment of the Browns' roster and suggested the team's 4-12 2008 season was closer to reality than the 10-6 record of the year before.

A source said such an assessment by Pioli was never made to Lerner in the interview. The source said the men talked about philosophy of building the organization but never got into specifics about quality of the Browns' roster. That in itself is hard to believe.

Still more Pioli: It will be fascinating to track the progress of Kansas City under Pioli against the progress of the Browns under Mangini.

The Chiefs were 2-14 last year as the youngest team in the league. They don't have a long-term answer at quarterback, or any other position, for that matter.

In announcing Pioli as the team's general manager, Hunt said, "I was eager to get the best person and at the end of the day Scott was head and shoulders above everyone else we talked to. I went into the interview thinking there was no way that this individual could live up to the hype surrounding him. At the end of the interview, I was like, 'Wow.' Not only did he live up to it, he exceeded it."

Pioli promised no timetable in turning around the Chiefs.

"I know this football team from afar," he said to Kansas City reporters. "I don't know this football team from inside this building. Those are two very different things. When you see players do certain things on the field, if you don't know what they're being asked to do, you can't do a true evaluation on a football player. That's a big part of what needs to be done here in the coming days and weeks."

What about Denver and Detroit? McDaniels, who was one of four coaches interviewed by Lerner, takes over an 8-8 Denver team that lost a playoff game on the last day of the season.

The Broncos have a prolific offense and a young quarterback with a great arm in Jay Cutler. But their defense weighed down the franchise and coast Mike Shanahan his job. McDaniels quickly hired Mike Nolan, a proven, experienced coach, to rebuild his defense.

In Detroit, the Lions surprised no one by hiring Tennessee defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. Schwartz, another limb from the Bill Belichick tree in Cleveland, was scheduled to be interviewed by Lerner, but it was canceled after Lerner decided to hire Mangini.

Shaunie Says Sells Sell This House!!!!/Atlanta House Women..

Shaq and Wife At VMA's Pictures, Images and Photos

My take is MS.Sharing Shaunie should have nothing to say..You were running around South Beach getting power tapped by your Cuban Trainer and buying him Bentleys and condo's Really.Shaunie if shaq took you back you should let that go.Whats a pair of Panties...Its not like a Car or Condo..

The NBA stars past affair catches up with him.

Shaquille O’Neal lowered the asking price of his Miami mansion after his wife, Shaunie O’Neal, demanded he immediately sell the house once she learned that Shaq reportedly “let that bitch live there”, referring to Shaq’s affair with rapper MaryJane.

Although Shaq and Shaunie had filed for divorce and had legally separated at the time of the affair, apparently Shaunie was not aware that MaryJane had lived in their Miami home until she recently found a pair of panties that belonged to MaryJane. Sources claim “Shaunie was so upset she immediately packed up their kids and left the premises”. Shaq was scheduled to meet his family in Miami the next day, following a road game, but arrived to find the house empty.

Shortly thereafter, the Miami Beach Mansion was listed for $25 million, which is $10million less than its asking price back in 2007.

Rapper MaryJane declined to comment on the situation due to her harassment lawsuit settlement that included a “gag order” requiring her not to speak publicly of her involvement with O’Neal.

The Lastest on The Atlanta House Women....

On the show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Sheree Whitfield expressed a desire for a “seven figure” settlement from her ex-husband and former Falcon player Bob Whitfield. She has since said very little about the case because of legal wranglings.

She received a settlement last year but wasn’t happy with it. So she has appealed it all the way to the Georgia Supreme Court. The case is scheduled to be heard Monday, January 12.

Her lawyers paint her as incompetent and uneducated to persuade the court that Bob should pay her more money because she lacks the ability to make any.

What the hell did she leave him for if she’s such a failure? I also concluded from reading all this why Sheree is confused. Sheree had kids with Bob before marrying him so half of the lifestyle she was accustomed to was when the two were just dating. She was with dude for 14 years but only married to him for 3 years.
I guess since he liked it he put a ring on it LOL!!!

Her attorneys painted her a high school graduate with limited skills to earn income, arguments for alimony she did not receive.

This agreement meant she wouldn’t be able to stay at her $2.6 million home.

She receives $113,422 a year from the divorce, not enough for her live the lifestyle she’s used to and clearly not at the level of what the hit Bravo show conveys.

Sheree also received a lump sum of $775,000, shares of Whitfield’s retirement pension, nearly half of the marital property and child support.

Here are all the facts provided by the Fulton County court public information officer:

The ex-wife of a former Atlanta Falcons football player is appealing a Fulton County

Bob Whitfield, 36, is a recently retired NFL player who once played for the Atlanta Falcons. Sheree Whitfield currently appears on the popular reality TV show, “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

The trial court awarded her custody of the children and $2,142.87 a month in child support.

It also awarded her a division of the marital property totaling more than $1.1 million and including a lump sum payment of $775,000.

It gave her half of the marital portion of three NFL retirement plans. But the court did not award alimony. To Continue Reading Click

The court awarded him nearly all the real estate, including four homes, and the recording studio, Patchwerks, which he founded.

Her lawyers moved for a new trial over the denial of alimony. The lower court denied the motion, and she now appeals to the Supreme Court.

ARGUMENTS:

Her attorneys argue that based on her lack of education and inability to earn income, the court abused its discretion by not awarding alimony and then ordering her and the children out of their $2.6 million home in Sandy Springs.

Her ex-husband not only received an $8 million signing bonus as part of a $30 million six-year contract, but he is also a sophisticated businessman with investment properties in Costa Rica, California and Atlanta, as well as founder and owner of a “world-class” recording studio, from which he draws $50,000 annually.

To enhance his earning power, he has returned to Stanford University. She, on the other hand, has devoted her time to raising the couple’s two young children.

The clothing boutique she managed for a brief time, “Bella Azul,” quickly failed under her management and oversight, her attorneys point out. With only a high school degree, she depended on her husband, with whom she had been in a relationship for 14 years.

Despite her lack of education, marketable job skills and employment prospects, the court wrongly denied her alimony, even though her husband’s monthly income is almost 12 times her.

The failure to award alimony is also contrary to the best interests of the children, her attorneys contend. Without alimony, she cannot afford to buy another home in the neighborhood where they have grown up, have friends and go to school.

His attorney argues that even though the marriage was “very short-term,” she was awarded 48 percent of the marital estate and a part of three retirement plans. Alimony is authorized but not required under state law, and the trial court did not abuse its discretion by not awarding any to her.

From the divorce, she receives a total yearly income of $113,422. In addition, she gets a portion of three NFL retirement programs.

His attorney argues she should be fined $2,500 for bringing a frivolous appeal solely for the purpose of delaying the time when she’ll have to vacate the Sandy Springs home.

Mike Vick Atlanta Home For Auction,New Scarface

The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last July, claiming assets of $16 million and liabilities of $20.4 million. Santoro last month rejected Vick's disclosure statement, which major creditors had criticized as insufficiently detailed, and ordered the new one.

According to the revised statement, real estate agents have shown the Georgia house more than 30 times to potential buyers and have aggressively marketed the property in publications, direct mailings and on the Internet. The home originally was listed for $4.5 million but is now priced at $4.1 million.

Vick paid $3.7 million for the home in 2005, according to Gwinnett County property records, and the disclosure statement says he still owes about $2.8 million on the mortgage. Several creditors and the Internal Revenue Service also have filed liens against the property, which Vick proposes to sell "free and clear of all liens, claims and encumbrances."
